Core Math Tools is a free software that can be used with Algebra, Functions, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Statistics and Probability. The tools and apps within this software are consistent with the Common Core State Standards for Math. The goal of this technology is to give students access to tools that promote the important math practices in high school classrooms, and be able to select and strategically use them. To find out where you can get this software, the NC Curriculum Standards and NCTM's process standards that go along with this software, other screenshots of this software, and information related to Core Math tools, click on the Free Software: Core Math Tools button.

Geometer's Sketchpad is a Trial Software that can be used with Number and Quantity, Algebra, Geometry, and Pre-Calculus/Calculus. Being a trial software, you can access this software for free for a limited amount of time and then will have to pay for it. There are certain licenses you can purchase for a lifetime and never have to pay for it again, and others you can pay for a year at a time. GSP has a dynamic component so students can create images and be able to drag, stretch, and manipulate the points, lines and images to see all forms and sizes and concepts related to dragging it, all without losing the geometric properties used in the construction. One purpose of this technology is to visualize mathematical concepts at all levels through constructable models that can be manipulated. To find out where you can get this software, the NC Curriculum Standards and NCTM's process standards that go along with this software, other screenshots of this software, and information related to Geometer's Sketchpad, click on the Trial Software: GSP button.

Desmos is a Free Web Based Software that can be used in classes relating to Algebra, Functions, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, a little bit of Geometry and a little bit of Statistics. This technology allows students to graph a variety of functions, plot tables of given data, or create their own, dynamically change equations, evaluate equations, explore transformations of these equations and do a variety of other things. To find out where you can get this software, the NC Curriculum Standards and NCTM's process standards that go along with this software, other screenshots of this software, and information related to Desmos, click on the Web Based Software: Desmos button.

NCCTM Conference Presentation
At the conference, I presented the Core Math Tools technology. I talked about how this technology is a free software found on http://www.nctm.org/coremathtools/ that can be used with Algebra, Functions, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Statistics and Probability. The tools and apps within this software are consistent with the Common Core State Standards for Math. During this presentation, I talked about how you can use this to solve equations, factor and expand quadratic functions, and I played with the technology showing everyone how to use the custom apps to work with transformations and triangle congruence on different triangle conditions, and to explore similar triangles. I then used the technology to make different transformations on polygons. I then recommended this technology to the audience because it allowed students to enhance their learning and engage them in the classroom, and gave students the chance to use technology to solve problems in the classroom and in the real world.
